The Almaty Biodiversity and Siberian Tiger Reintroduction Project looks to restore degraded landscapes withiin the Trans-lli Alatau range.
- The landscape already supports a range of keystone species including Brown Bears, Lynx, Golden Eagles and the elusive Snow Leopard.
- The project will also reintroduce the native Siberian Tiger, creating the region's most well protected reserve in the process.
- The project will protect and expand the habitat available to these animals while sequestering carbon.
The project will also work with local herders to reduce desertification while supporting local livelihoods and creating lasting employment opportunities.
